"Rachel" to the Woodward

Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Yes Yes YES! Rachel is confirmed to be going to the Woodward Stakes on Sept. 5 to face older males. I knew they would pick this race but still I was nervous they wouldn't. No filly or mare has won this race ever. If she does boy...she is going to be more special if that's even possible. She's going to be facing males like Da'tara, Bullsbay, It's a bird, Cool Coal Man and Asiatic Boy.

  2. Rachel all the way. :) Asiatic Boy is not as good as he used to be. And he was scratched from the Whitney because of a fever.

  4. Hey, it's not just because she is filly that I'm going with her. She is a very talented horse and deserves to be favored here. It's not going to be cakewalk but I think she can do it.

  5. uhuh...yeah
She is one of the greats but she hasn't proven herself at a mile and a quarter hopefully the Zenyatta Rachel match race takes place at the classic distance...i'll always be a Go for Wand fan myself.

  6. Yes she does have to prove herself at a mile and a quarter but I don't think she has distance limitations like some people seem to think she does. Every horse has something to prove when they step out onto that track. Secretariat was beaten by Onion when everyone thought he couldn't be beat in the 1973 Whitney right?

  7. Okay...if I should like a pretentious jerk u can totally call me out but if my memory serves me correctly Secretariat had a fever that day and he also hit his head against the starting gate...I can only imagine how out of it he must have been and he still only lost by a nose.

If Rachel is as good as everyone says she is, she has to beat Zenyatta, she has to handle being pressured on the lead and she has to win at a mile and a quarter

but with that said she's a damn good horse and she's great for the sport...but she is not Personal Ensign...at least not yet

  8. Now that I think about it yes he did have a low grade fever. I don't think he hit his head though. I'll have to rewatch that race to see.
Well eventually, hopefully, next year or later this year Rachel will do those things. Of course they are going to retire Zenyatta at the end of the year so I don't know if she will get the chance to race against her but she has time to win a race at a mile and quarter.
Oh no she isn't a Personal Ensign yet. But, in my opinion, she could be that great or greater by the time she is done racing by the end of next year. I guess we have to agree to disagree.
